I was watching the special features of the Return of the King Extended Edtion (finally, after owning the thing since Christmas) and one of the features there is something I think everything should see. It's a little documentary on the foruth disk about a very special young filmaker that puts us all to shame.

Cameran Duncan was a kid from New Zealand who make films during his spare time. When he was 16, he was diagnosed with cancer, but out of that was where his most beautiful films came from. He made two amazing films that were inspired by his disease- one about how the cancer affects him and makes him appreciate freedom more, and the other about a cancer patient like him who trains a horrible softball team and takes them to the New Zealand championship. They're both amazingly made for a 16 year old and especially one who was undergoing kemo while he made these films (the later film he made during the last two months of his life).

He's on the DVD however since Peter Jackson (LOTR Director) and Fran Walsh (LOTR screenwriter) met him and ended up becoming great friends, and when he died he became the inspiration for the song Into the West (the one at the end of ROTK).

I just thought I'd share it with you guys so you can see this thought-moving documentary about a young filmaker and maybe appreciate life a lot more.

I was very impressed, but it annoyed me that Pete had to call the lightsabers 'Laser Swords'.

I wanted to reach through the screen and choke him! Tongue

iKid.

Really, it was very good.  I showed it to Mom.

Honestly, it doesn't compete at all with anything Freddy has done.  He had people to run his camera's, etc.  He wasn't nearly as guerilla as most of us are, which, while fine with me, isn't as cool.  B)

But yeah, all the special features are awesome.  I'm proud to own the LOTR EE trilogy, but I'm tempted to by the original trilogy as well, just to see what I would have missed by watching them instead.  Hah!
