I like the reel. Simple, to the point, and diverse.

Very cool stuff, some of which I've seen.

I was wondering how you got the bear to walk, now that I've seen how you did it, it's so obvious I'm ready to kick myself.

Tongue

EDIT: Well, we did it differently in basically every shot. Some it's just a puppet, others it's a bear on a stick, sometimes it's completely different. You can see more of it in the CHACT feature on my site, which also has a lot of boobs, and is therefore important anyway.

I'm very proud in the belief that my films have one consistent, unifying theme: they make more sense on mute than they do when you know what's going on.

Nice Reel, but honestly, I loved Ian's a heckuva lot more.  So much more character in Ians.

Granted, yours is more fluid.  And you're right about the whole 'mute' thing.  I'm laughing at that, thinking I should watch your films on mute.

Yeah, I guess Ian's does have more of his personality in it. That's why I asked if he intended to use it for anything or not. The personality was there, and the effects were there, but they were out of context with jarring music and few sound effects, which is important for the loud clanking metal stuff that was onscreen. Without the sounds, it's just models. Luckily I don't do any of that stuff.

This reel I made specifically for getting into the DAVE school, I brought it down on a DVD and the guy watched it after he gave me the nickel tour...and then, when it was done, he watched it again, right in front of me.

I don't know much about this sort of thing, Rico might have a better idea, but I'm pretty sure it was the sexy format, clean titles, smooth music, in addition to the content, that made it succesful. I personally like it a lot, because it's much cooler than all of the films in it, which is what makes a demo reel awesome - your movies can just look pretty, but be about evil teddy bears and ducks, and still come across as completely awesome in passing.

There's probably a way to keep the personality in that Sexy Format, but as we've established, my personality doesn't really come across in my films anyway. And especially FX work. Mostly they've had one or two good things about them, and then one hugely sucky thing, and this showcases the good stuff. (As of a year ago, there's Tempest and Retrun of Pink Five stuff that could go in here. The ROP5 sequence in the reel is the draft I had done for the reel specifically the day before my flight, in the film, it's different.)

Anyway. Glad you foos like it.
