Title: Poster Idea
Post by: Mrdodobird on August 06, 2005, 08:54:02 PM
Poossibly.

I kinda like it.

We're not sure.

I like it a lot, but the face by the moon is too pronounced and I know it's not the center of the poster.

It's very good; just make the face more transparent so it's not seen as much, then it will be perfect.

I'm sure Yoda will have something to say.

Oh...I like the coloring.

Aye. I thought the face to the upper right of the moon was bright too.

Dimmed/ updated.

Maybe you should move it from the moon- I noticed it was looking at your face in the corner.  Maybe if you put it equally from the side as your face, then dim.

I like the city backdrop under the title.

You know my thoughts on this totally rad poster...

I want a high res version of the finished product so I can print it out and paste it on my wall!

Thanks. :)

We're still not sure if we're gonna use it, but it's lookin' like we may...

Me too, but for my Desktop.

Just an idea: you could put the outline of the blimp-like-thing in front of the Moon. Just a small outline. Sort of a salute to Spielberg and the outline of the ET-on-bike riding in front of the moon.

Hehe...

I like the city under Ideality.

Hmm... I do like Spielberg ;)

I'll see if I can do that without getting rid of the face. That's an awesome idea.

But hey, surely not everyone likes this poster. SOMEONE has to think it's too... different.

I like it, but some might argue that it's too busy...not I though.

Yes, I love the complexity, and the way it forces you to study it.  Not in a bad way, but rather, in a totally awesome way!

I'm new to this forum and know very little about your project, so I'm not trying to be presumptuous but If you would send me the source images (as high rez as poss.) I would love to take a crack at polishing this design. I've been wanting to put together a movie poster project for awhile, a small selection of my work is viewable on this page (http://www.myspace.com/chairborne). If you want to see more or have any questions let me know.

Looks really nice- I thought it was anime at first. I think it looks great, but it would be absolutely awsome if you did a Drew Struzan style poster.

Post by: Mrdodobird on October 03, 2005, 08:53:58 AM
Dang. I'm still torn about this. I like it, but it's also kinda, I dunno, I'm wondering if it looks too ratty.

I think if I put a bit more emphasis on Sword standing in the middle, It'll be better. And clean up the top left, cause right now it's kinda, busy yet empty.

Who's Drew Struzan?

One more note on this subject... while I don't love the design anyway (I'm more into concrete than abstract), I think you should pick either abstract or concrete and move the other elements toward that-- if you choose to keep abstract, then draw sword... or at least alter him :)

Anyway, the poster has grown on me :)

I disagree.  It fits the whole 'soul' of the movie--ideas taking on a life of their own--the drawings being between being real and being, well, drawings.

I like it... But honestly, I like the Teaser poster better... Really liked the simplisity of it... If I saw the teaser poster on a now showing thing at a movie theater, I'd be more inclind to go see the movie... Prolly... I dunno =P

Nice though xD

I agree in that the poster needs to have a more concrete focus--there needs to be something that your eye is primarily drawn to.  I think the central figure would work well.

Note: I meant to post this idea earlier, but the computer froze. I know it now is against what people have just said, but I still stand by it.

So I don't look like a dumbass, that link wasn't there when I did the previous post.

Thanks!

;)

Edit: OH YEAH! Wondered if it might be him. I think (possibly) it was the guy who did the poster for Revelations....

possibly...

I'm liking it...it pushes the edge on Ideality

As a main...mainstream poster...eh, probably wouldn't draw in as many people. It would suggest a dark and mysterious film...or should I say it would attract a different audience, which isn't bad by any means.

I like that its not typical, I like that its a risk. But with where the film is now...I feel like the original might be better

yet....it makes it look more meaningful.

So i have no answer

I still think the original idea/poster was fine.

eh, sorry, funk. I was just looking at this again.... guess I had the same thought as before. I haven't looked at this in months :P
My bad, I guess...

Ehh, the original poster was shallow, IMO.

It had a picture of the main character (kinda), the title, and the tagline.

But nothing that would at all intruige anyone, unless if they're intruiged by stuff like swords. Which is possible :D

This one, on the other hand, I feel reflects the main theme of the movie, along with other stuff, that I'm not gonna say cause I'm late.

Well I don't think it was shallow...

I liked the simplisticness of it and its.. erm... =big fancy word=

Yes... I liked The Stance as well... Very cool looking, makes you wonder just whats in the movie...

Like the cover to Magnolia

The guy in the middle needs to be a real person and not photoshopped.

Title: Poster Idea
Post by: Funk, E on December 22, 2005, 05:33:32 PM
Looks like it IS a real person.

I admit that it needs some 'face' though.

Title: Poster Idea
Post by: Tru_Slice on December 22, 2005, 07:19:34 PM
What would look better would be to have a real guy in the center wearing a trenchcoat, and have not so much white lines everywhere.

Instead, you could outline everything in white, like a reverse silhouette...(picturing this in my brain)...oh yeah. That would be sweet.
