Killing People

I'm not going to start a thread for every effect I do, just on the ones I'm unsure about (like this one). No one has been shot yet in my movie (except Boba Fett, but since he has armor it didn't hurt him), so this is the first time I've really killed anyone.

As you see in the video, Han shoots a couble of aliens. I need to know whether this works out for the rest of the movie. I'm not asking if it looks realistic, just if it works or not. Even though I'm not overdoing it the film is cartoonish so things aren't perfectly realistic (like the Clone Wars cartoon, which is the inspiration for this). Please tell me if you think this works out with the movie or if I should try another way of having them shot. Thanks

Some smoke and burn marks on the wounds would help as well.

Agreed. You should simply change the middle frame.

First frame: yak dude is shot
second: yak dude has fallen, green guy shot
third: both fallen


This could be done by mixing the frames in paint shop pro, probably.

And what would burn marks on leather look like?

Dark black stuff... but not regular shapes. hmm.... google image search it

K....... speaking of people being shot, later in that chapter Han gets shot in the arm by a Stormtrooper. Obviously he's not going to have a hole in his arm, so how should I symbolize the effect?
